As part of our ongoing Serie where I will be answering your most frequently asked questions, I wanted to start with a few questions regarding the profession as a Live Dealer.

When I came to Malta in 2014, I had no clue how big Igaming really was. Neither did I know how much I would enjoy being part of the first interaction with Online casino users in a live environment.

Working as a Live dealer, or Game presenter as many of the Igaming providers would refer the job title to, is an extremely important role for all Igaming companies. You are the first person they meet whilst playing online on their Blackjack, Roulette and Baccarat tables.

It is your obligation and key role to be the face outwards as well as the voice to represent a high-quality product. Keep reading if you are interested in how to become a Live dealer along with some information on how to become a great asset for any Igaming provider as Live dealer.

How do I become a Live Dealer?

Hi everyone and welcome to a new vlog here at CasinoByHer. My name is Disa and today I’m going to speak a little bit about how it is actually like to be a Live Dealer. So, I have gathered some questions here on the phone and yeah, I’m going start from that and see where it’s going to take us. I will start with question number one.
So, the first question that I’m going to answer is:‘’How do I become a Live Dealer?’’

I mean, there are different ways of doing it. But I’m going to tell you about my journey and how I started. Either you can take an online / physical course, or you can reach out to one of the Igaming providers. I will not mention them, but there are a few out there.

Personally, I started my journey back in 2014 and I used to work for one of the biggest Igaming Providers. So, when I started, I had to first: Make a lot of tests. Both physically and practically. And after you passed all the exams, and showed them that you’re good enough, and that you’re presentable being a Live Dealer on their Live Tables- Then you’ve become a Live Dealer.

Question number two. ‘’ Where can I work as a Casino dealer? ‘’. There are different places where you can work as a Casino dealer. Depending on if you are referring to be an Online Casino Dealer. For example, as I said previously, for one of the Igaming providers, so you can work online basically. Or you can work at a landbased Casino or by last, you can also work on the sea one of the big cruise ships. I never done that myself, but I heard it’s plenty of fun.

Is there anything I should know before I become a Live Dealer?
I mean you’re going to have good and bad days, where you will need to handle a lot of hard situations. You need to be able to guide people in a very positive way. You need to understand that you’re going to have long shifts. You don’t go there for 1 hour and go home and it’s not like a normal office job. There is very heavy lightening, you need to constantly be very social and prepared for whatever is going to come that day. Prepare yourself beforehand and ask yourself if you are that type of person. Otherwise I don’t think you will enjoy it as much as I did.

‘’Would I recommend becoming a Live Dealer?’’

Absolutely yes, I mean had a blast working as a Live Dealer. The interaction with people is so much fun and you get to know yourself in a different way as well because you need to handle so many things at the same time. You need to be able to follow statistics. You need to be really good at the game strategies. You need to be able to be presentable in a good way. You need to, I mean time management, everything. So yes, for me it was a really great experience and I don’t regret it at all.

And the final question that I’ve got today, is:

’’ How do I become good at being a live dealer?’’

And if you ask me, I think the most important thing is, as I mentioned before, you need to be very social. You need to be prepared of that you’re going to meet a lot of different people during your shift. Different players, different background. Different interests. So,bear in mind whenever you come to work, maybe prepare some topics for the day. Try to stay positive throughout. It is supposed to be a fun experience for the user. So,if you’re not having fun at the table – the player won’t have fun at the table. Just enjoy it, go with the wave, go with the flow. More than that, obviously you need to be really good at the games. You can’t just show up and have no interest whatsoever in Blackjack, Baccarat or Roulette as an example. You need to know the game strategies inside-out. So, you really can help and guide the people who actually don’t know how to play the games. Even if you should never say for example : You should bet on red or you should bet on 28 black, you need to make sure that IF they ask you what the payouts are for a certain number or section of the wheel etc. You really need to be able to tell them that. So, unless you don’t know, you’re not a great dealer.

To summarize a little bit: Don’t forget to have fun, you will need to know the games by heart and if you’re interested in pursuing a career within Igaming, or to become a Live Dealer or Game presenter, there are various way to do it. Either you can take an online or psychical Croupier course, or you can contact the biggest gaming providers.
